Charles Simonds is a managing director and the market investment executive for Greater Los Angeles at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management.In this role, he is responsible for managing a team of portfolio managers and overseeing their creation and management of personalized investment portfolios incorporating a broad range of wealth solutions as well as financial planning and wealth strategy.This includes helping clients establish goals and objectives, working towards developing an appropriate overall strategy, creating and managing solutions and helping clients monitor progress toward reaching their goals. In addition, he helps clients navigate changing market environments by providing guidance in the areas of asset allocation, tax-minimization strategies, retirement and multi-generational planning strategies. In addition, Charles is responsible for helping the market meet its investment related goals as well as oversight of the overall client investment experience.
In previous roles, Charles was a senior portfolio strategist within the Institutional Investments group working with non-profit and defined benefit clients and provided investment consulting services to U.S. Trust?s Institutional and High Net Worth clients.
Prior to joining U.S. Trust, he was director of research at ShelterwoodFinancial ?a multi-family office ?where he created and managed a multi-manager investment platform across all asset classes and acted as a portfolio manager for their fund of hedge funds.Previous to that he was an analyst at a long/short equity hedge fund and started his career as an equity research analyst at Salomon Smith Barney where he was part of an Institutional Investortop-ranked team.
Charles received his B.A. from Yale University.
